I have found happiness by helping others to find it. I have sound physical health because I live temperately in all things, and eat only foods, which nature requires for body maintenance. I am free from fear in all of its forms. I hate no man, envy no man, but love all mankind. I am engaged in a labor of love with which I mix play generously. Therefore I never grow tired. I give thanks daily, not for more riches, but for wisdom with which to recognize, embrace, and properly use the great abundance of riches I now have at my command. I speak no name save only to honor it. I ask no favors of anyone except the privilege of sharing my riches with all who will receive them. I am on good terms with my conscience. Therefore it guides me correctly in all that I do. I have no enemies because I injure no man for any cause, but I benefit all whom I come into contact with by teaching them the way to enduring riches. I have more material wealth than I need because I am free from greed and covet only the material things I can use while I live. I own a great estate which is not taxable because it exists mainly in my own mind in intangible riches which cannot be assessed or appropriated except by those who adopt my way of life. I created this vast estate by observing Nature’s laws and adapting my habits to conform therewith.

The common inclination of most people is to do the minimum it takes to get by. If you look at these people carefully, you will observe this “getting by” as temporary and little benefit is being received in return. Why is that?

Two Major Reasons Why You Must Practice This Law:

  1. Just like any other form of conditioning, you become stronger with use and you atrophy with little or no use
  2. By rendering better service than that for which you are paid, you are turning the spotlight on yourself. Through this law of cause and effect there will be a continuous increase in the demand for your services

By rendering more service and better service than that for which you are paid, you will stand in bold contrast to others in your line of service. If you feel under appreciated; through continuously increasing effort and persistence, doors will open you did not know existed. Do not worry about where the returns will come because it is a universal law, they will come. Just feel good about the excellent service you provided and let the Universe do the rest.

” Do the thing and you shall have the power.”

~Ralph Waldo Emerson

Success is a system and not a secret is what I have learned through Napoleon Hill and the Foundation that was created in his name. I have learned that like attracts like and that thoughts become things because what we think about we become. Through our imagination we create plans and put them into action. We go the extra mile in all our interactions. Our motto is, “Do it Now!” The foundational principles for outstanding success are:

1. Definiteness of Purpose
2. Mastermind Alliance
3. Applied Faith
4. Habit of Going The Extra Mile

Napoleon Hill believed in a Master Mind that used the collective consciousness of its members to actively solve problems and create new ideas and plans. It begins with a definite purpose rendered with better service than that for which one is paid, done in a positive mental attitude, and with a creative imagination that is applied with faith. Remember, faith without action is merely a wish.

A definite purpose backed by applied faith, is a form of wisdom, and wisdom in action, produces positive results.

Decide now what you want out of life and what you will give in return for it. Begin right now where you stand. Then as you progress other and better means will be revealed to you.

If you do not have a definite purpose then make your definite purpose to find your definite purpose, date it, and sign it. Dr. Joe Dudley used a 6 hour reading program of Think and Grow Rich once a week to create a very successful international company known as Dudley, Inc.

Napoleon Hill, through his twenty-odd years of creating this philosophy, noticed that 5% of the population that were succeeding had a definite purpose and a definite plan to achieve their aim.

If you are a true student of Hill’s philosophy, become a master by teaching it to others. Thereby you guarantee your compensation in advance. It is well know that the “teacher” learns the lesson better than the students. So, come join us in the Mastermind Online and become a contributor. Experience the exponential growth you can tap. Have faith in the fact that you can give people the opportunity and the knowledge to improve their lot in life just by sharing what you know. This can be profoundly liberating. The Mastermind Online membership desires to put faith into practice so that we may inspire others to take control of their destinies. What a beautiful world it would be if we all had a labor of love to follow.

Through the habit of going the extra mile you can attract to you whatever you desire. Help enough people get what they want and you will automatically get what you want.

Will-power
Recognizing that the Power of Will is the Supreme Court over all other departments of my mind, I will exercise it daily, when I need the urge to action for any purpose, and I will form habits designed to bring the power of my will into action at least once daily.

Emotions
Realizing that my emotions are both positive and negative I will form daily habits. which will encourage the development of the positive emotions, and aid me in converting the negative emotions into some form of useful action.

Reason
Recognizing that both my positive emotions and negative emotions may be dangerous, if they are not controlled and guided to desirable ends, I will submit all my desires, aims and purposes to my faculty of reason, and I will be guided by it in giving expression to these.

Imagination
Recognizing the need for sound plans and ideas for the attainment of my desires, I will develop my imagination by calling upon it daily for help in the formation of my plans.

Conscience
Recognizing that my emotions often err in their over enthusiasm, and my faculty of reason often is without the warmth of feeling that is necessary to enable me to combine justice with mercy in my judgements, I will encourage my conscience to guide me as to what is right and what is wrong, but I will never set aside the verdict it renders, no matter what maybe the cost of carrying them out.

Memory
Recognizing the value of an alert memory, I will encourage mine to become alert by taking care to impress it clearly with all thoughts I wish to recall, and by associating those thoughts with related subjects which I may call to mind frequently.

Subconscious Mind
Recognizing the influence of my subconscious mind over my power of will, I shall take care to submit to it a clear and definite picture of my Major Purpose in life and all minor purposes leading to my major purpose, and I shall keep this picture constantly before my subconscious mind by repeating it daily.

This video is a quick mental refresher that will really get you taking positive action towards the attainment of your definite purpose. Enjoy!

10 Major Factors for Confidence
by Napoleon Hill

(pgs. 131-132: How to Sell Your Way Through Life, 1955, Ralston Publishing Co., Cleveland, Ohio.)

By careful observation of thousands of sales people from whom I have learned all that I know about selling, I discovered that ten major factors enter into the development of confidence. They are:

    (1) Follow the habit of rendering more service and better service than you are paid to render.
    (2) Enter into no transaction which does not benefit, as nearly alike as possible, everyone it affects.
    (3) Make no statement which you do not believe to be true, no matter what temporary advantages a falsehood might seem to offer.
    (4) Have a sincere desire in your heart to be of the greatest possible service to the largest number of people.
    (5) Cultivate a wholesome admiration for people; like them better than you like money!
    (6) Do you best to live as well as preach your own philosophy of business. Actions speak louder than words!
    (7) Accept no favors, large or small, without giving favors in return.
    (8) Ask nothing of any person without believing that you have a right to that for which you ask.
    (9) Enter into no arguments with any person over trivial or non-essential details.
(10)Spread the sunshine of good cheer wherever and whenever you can. No man trusts a joy-killer!

Forming and Maintaining a Mastermind Group

Instructions by Napoleon Hill

FIRST:

  • The first step is to adopt a Definite Purpose as an objective to be attained by the alliance, choosing individual members whose education, experience and influence are such as to make them of the greatest value in achieving that purpose.
  • There isn’t any use in forming a Master Mind Alliance just to have someone to chat with. It will soon play out if you don’t have a strong motive behind it, and it’s up to you to plant that motive in the minds of the group members.
  • Your allies for this group should be chosen for their ability to help you get to where you are going. Do not choose people simply because you know them and like them. I have found out by experience that merely because you like a person is no reason whatsoever to have him as a member of your economic Master Mind Alliance. It is all right to have such a person in your social or purely personal alliance, where his contribution may simply be this very friendship you appreciate.
  • You should make a careful analysis of your purpose and list the items you will need for its attainment and then systematically go about supplying the links with which to forge the chain. Each member of the alliance should make some definite, distinctive, unique contribution to the over all picture.
  • In making your selection of allies for this economic group, you may have to be a little “cold blooded” at first. It is no easy job to select the right members. You may have to choose and eliminate until you get the right ones. This is costly in time and money. You should be guided in your choice by the things you need which you do not already have. If it is money you need to finance the deal, you must find a person who has the money to invest. No matter what nice people you know who would like to work with you, if they don’t have any money they cannot really make the particular contribution to the alliance you need. No-you must find a person with the money and cultivate his willingness to cooperate, by showing him the opportunities to make a profit from the investment.
  • Of course, you don’t take the first person who answers the major requirement, unless he also possesses the other necessary attributes. The qualifications of membership in a Master Mind Alliance are very exacting. Consider each candidate for membership in the light of his ability, his personality, and his willingness to cooperate with you. I cannot overemphasize the necessity for harmony, if it is going to be a successful organization.

SECOND:

  • Determine what appropriate benefit each member may receive in return for his cooperation in the alliance. At this point review the nine basic motives which I termed the alphabet of success. Base your appeals for cooperation on one or more of these motives. I can tell you ahead of time which motive will have the greatest appeal and I’ll bet you can guess it yourself.
  • You’re right! It’s the desire for material wealth, or profit. If you make a profit, be willing to divide it with those who help you. Be not only fair, but generous with them, and the more generous you are with them, the more help you will get from them. Remember the principle of going the extra mile. What a pity that not all businessmen know about that! One of my purposes in life is to see that they learn about it.

THIRD:

  • Establish a definite place where the members of the alliance will meet, have a definite plan, and arrange a definite time for the mutual discussion of the plan. You will recall the importance of a plan in connection with your Definite Major Purpose. Well, this is the time and place to reveal that plan to those who are your friends and harmonious associates, who will have a community of interest in the success of the venture. You may think your plan is very good, but before you get through discussing it with your allies you will undoubtedly modify it until you hit upon the perfect plan.
  • When you have established rapport between your mind ant he minds of others in your Master Mind Alliance, you will find that ideas will flow into the minds of each of the members and likewise into your own mind. When the Master Mind is in effect, it produces ideas that would not come to your mind alone. I have had that experience many times when sitting in on the many groups of which I am a member on a consulting basis.
  • The Round Table discussion will be the place where everyone meets, and where each member may speak with confidence. They all see what’s on the table. You have no secrets in such a group, which results from the care with which you select members.
  • It is important that frequent and regular contacts be made between the members. Indefiniteness on this point, or utter neglect, will bring defeat. You must keep in almost continuous contact with the other minds of the group if you are to get the full benefit of them. Meetings should be scheduled often, and telephone numbers exchanged, so that it is possible within a few minutes to discuss any sudden development with the group.

FOURTH:

  • It is the burden of the leader of the alliance to see that harmony among all the members is maintained and that action is continuous in the pursuance of the Definite Major Objective. Action or work is the connecting link between desire, plan, and fulfillment.

FIFTH:

  • The watchword of the alliance should be Definiteness of Purpose, Positiveness of Plan, backed by continuous perfect harmony. The major strength of such an alliance consists in the perfect blending of the mind of all members. Jealousy, envy or friction, as well as lagging of interest on the part of any member, will bring defeat unless he is removed at once.

SIXTH:

  • The number of Individuals in an alliance should be governed entirely by the nature and magnitude of the purpose to be attained. If you are going after a purpose comparable to that of Mr. Edison’s you will require a large number of persons with special talents and training. A lesser undertaking will call for a correspondingly smaller group. In general, it is better to have as few members as possible, because it will be that much easier to maintain harmony among them. Quite often a man will need only a really cooperative alliance with his wife in order to achieve the purpose he feels inspired to achieve.
  • If a man cannot find that harmony which I have mentioned as being desirable between man and wife, it is possible for a man to form a purely economic alliance with a woman other than a wife.

  14. I am so thoroughly sold on the work in which I am engaged that my enthusiasm over it becomes contagious and others are influenced by it.

  7. Recognition of the existence of Infinite Intelligence, which gives orderliness to the universe; that all individuals are minute expressions of this Intelligence, and the individual mind has no limitations except those which are accepted and set up by the individual in his or her own mind.
  8. A careful inventory (in retrospect) of one’s past defeats and adversities, which will reveal the truth that all such experiences carry the seed of an equivalent benefit.
  9. Self-respect expressed through harmony with one’s own conscience.
  10. Recognition of the oneness of all humankind.

“You Can Do It if You Believe You Can”

“The man who masters himself is delivered from the force that binds all creatures.”
~Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Enthusiasm is the vital quality that arouses you to action, while Self-Control is the balance wheel that directs your actions so that it will build up and not tear down. Self-control is the ability to direct your thoughts, and thus your actions, in the pursuit of your definite chief aim.

“The growth of wisdom may be gauged accurately by the decline of ill-temper.”
~Friedrich Nietzsche

Self-control is solely a matter of thought control. Place in your own mind through the principle of auto-suggestion, the positive, constructive thoughts that harmonize with your Definite Chief Aim in life, and that mind will transform those thoughts into physical reality and hand them back to you with a finished product. When you deliberately choose the thoughts that dominate your mind, and firmly refuse admittance to outside suggestion, you are exercising Self-Control in the highest form.

Both tears and sweat are salty, but they will render different results. Tears will get you sympathy, sweat will get you change.
~JJesse Jackson

I wish to be of service to others as I journey through life. To do this I have adopted this creed as a guide to be followed in dealing with my felling beings.
To train myself so that never, under any circumstances, will I find falut with any person, no matter how much I may disagree with them or how inferior their work may be, as long as I know they are sincerely trying to do their best.
To respect my country, my profession, and myself. To be honest and fair with others, as I expect them to be honest and fair with me. To be a loyal citizen of my country. To speak of it with praise, and act always as a worthy custodian of its good name. To be a person whose name carries weight wherever it goes.
To base my expectations of reward on a solid foundation of service rendered. To be willing o pay the price of success in honest effort. To look upon my work as an opportunity to be seized with joy and made the most of, and not as a painful drudgery to be reluctantly endured.
To remember that success lies within myself-in my own brain. To expect difficulties and to force my way through them.
to avoid procrastination in all its forms, and never, under any circumstances, put off until tomorrow any duty that should be performed today.
Finally, to take a good drip on the joys of life, so I may be courteous to others, faithful to friends, true to God- a fragrance in the path I tread.
