Making Your Dream A Reality

Getting There From Here

Author: Greg Hickman

“The next man’s way of getting there might not necessarily work for me, so I have to create my own ways of getting there.” Michael Korda

Everyone likes to know where they are going. It is only human nature to want to feel comfortable with the direction one’s life is heading at any given time. Not knowing where you are going lends itself to feelings of instability, hesitancy and doubt; unsettling feelings to be sure.

Winners know where they are going. They not only know which direction they are heading, they know how they are going to get there and when they will arrive as well. Every winner who has ever walked the face of this earth carried with them a personalized road map for success.

“A person should set his goals as early as he can and devote all his energy and talent to getting there.” Walt Disney

You too must develop your own personalized road map for success. The first step in putting together this road map requires that you determine exactly where you are today. As is the case when using any map, you must first know where you are right now in order for the map to have any real value.

Once you have determined where you are right now, you can begin working on where you want to go, how you’re going to get there and when you will arrive.

“The secret of getting ahead is getting started. The secret of getting started is breaking your complex overwhelming tasks into small manageable tasks, and then starting on the first one.” Mark Twain

So where do you want your life to take you? What do you want to accomplish? Remember, this is your road map to success and it can take you anywhere you desire. When you begin looking at where you want to go, please make absolutely certain the ‘where’ you choose is your choice alone and not someone else’s decision being made for you.

Once you have clearly established where you want to go, it is time to decide how you’re going to get there. You should turn your brain power loose and let your creative juices flow, making certain the ‘how’ you chase is your own personal choice, not somebody else’s. The how should allow you to follow your dreams. The how should permit you to pursue your passions. A worthwhile how can provide you a lifetime of happiness and fulfillment.

The final step in completing your personalized road map for success is to determine when you are going to arrive. This is the easiest stage in the process. You should set your sights on getting there as soon as possible, developing a definitive sense of urgency. Why should you ever sit around and wait to live life on your terms? Why should you delay living your life the way you have always dreamed it should be? You shouldn’t wait and now fully armed with your personalized game plan, you don’t have to wait any longer.

“The results you achieve will be in direct proportion to the effort you apply.” Denis Waitley

With your personalized road map showing the way, you can scale the highest mountain top. With your very own game plan close at hand, you can soar higher than the highest cloud in the sky. With your blueprint for success outlining the steps you need to take daily, you can go any place you have ever wanted to go.

You can go anywhere you have ever wanted to go and accomplish everything you have ever wanted to achieve when you put together your road map and then put it to work. Today is your day to make the future you desire and deserve come to life. Yes, you can get there from here.

The Bottom Line: Want to get somewhere? Then get going right now.
